PLANTING AND CARE DIRECTIONS
1. Trees and shrubs should be wrapped or covered during transport.
2. Dig the hole 2-3 times the diameter of the root ball, but no deeper than the root ball. Set the root ball on firm undisturbed soil.
3. Remove all plastic pots and wire.
4. Backfill with a mixture of equal parts of good soil, peat moss and compost.
5. Evenly mix recommended amount of mycorrhizae or starter fertilizer as you backfill.
6. Firmly pack soil to eliminate air pockets.
7. Use cedar mulch or bark 2” deep on the surface. Be sure to leave space around the base of the trunk.
8. Water by hand soaking the soil until it is saturated and continue to keep the ground moist throughout the season, adjusting as needed for hot/dry or wet conditions.
9. Use tree guard to protect from wildlife and staking to prevent wind damage.
10. Winter watering is critical when the ground is dry and not frozen.
